Growing up in Buffalo, New York, Amari DeBerry quickly made a name for herself in the world of basketball. A 2x gold medal winner with USA basketball, Amari also secured the title of McDonald’s All-American in 2021 and Jordan Brand All-American Class of 2021. Out of high school, Amari took her talents to the elite women’s basketball program at the University of Connecticut. She helped her team advance to the NCAA women’s basketball championship tournament, place runner-up in 2022, Sweet Sixteen in 2023, and Final Four in 2024. She has now decided to take her talents to the University of Maryland where she has decided to finish playing her collegiate basketball career. In her free time, Amari enjoys being out in nature, whether it is lying on the beach working on her tan, swinging on her hammock in the woods, or meditating outside. Amari is passionate about opening doors in the world of sports for the Deaf Community and is currently learning ASL and taking every opportunity available to immerse herself into the culture. Amari notes her exceptional height as being a key part of who she is, and wouldn’t trade it for the world. She is grateful for the unique opportunities and experiences it has brought her in playing elite-level basketball, traveling the world, and modeling.
